Basic Questions

Do Braces Hurt?

No, placing on braces does not hurt; it’s just like arts and crafts. A few hours later when the teeth start to move there will be soreness. Chewing gum or eating soft foods will help relieve any discomfort.

At what age is it appropriate to see an Orthodontist?

The American and Canadian Association of Orthodontics suggest that a patient’s first visit should be at the age of 7. We’ve had many incidents where this does not happen, one included an 8 yr old child with a crossbite on his front teeth. Dr.Waese noticed that on of the bottom teeth was pushed forward on the bone and had lost gum covering. This problem could have been prevented if the patient had come in at the age of 7 for a consultation.

Do I need to be referred to the orthodontist by my dentist?

We welcome all patients with or without a dentist referral.

What type of braces do you use?

We offer different types of braces according to your aesthetic preference and the needs of your orthodontic problem. These include, modern stainless steel braces, porcelain transparent braces and Invisalign.

Am I too old for Braces?

You are never too old for braces. If your gums are healthy, the teeth can be moved to create a beautiful smile.

Is there a fee for a consultation?

The initial consultation is free. Please visit our Services tab and see more information about your first visit with us.
